The Titans - Episode 5: Iapetus

Iapetus, the name of a titan in Greek and Roman mythology. He is the son of Gaia, or Terra in Roman Form, and Ouranos, or Caelus. He is the titan of the west, twin brother of Hyperion, titan of the east, lord of light. the topic of episode 6. This is Charles, by the way, and I am actually having a video call with James on WeChat. Now, peops, let's start.

Iapetus is the father of Atlas, Prometheus, Epimetheus and Menoetius. He looks exactly like his brother, Hyperion. Prometheus means "forethought", and Epimetheus means "afterthought". Iapetus may have been considered as the god of craftsmanship, although other sources site him as the god of mortality. We already posted Prometheus and Atlas. There are twelve main titans and some other titans. Iapetus's titan children are not of the main twelve titans. He and his brothers held down their father's arms and legs while Kronos cut him into pieces.

(WARNING: SPOIL ALERT!) In Percy Jackson series, he fought Percy, Nico, and somebody else near the banks of the River Lethe. He got butted into the Lethe and lost all of his memories. After that, Percy and Nico took pity of him and decided not to send him back to Tartarus. They sent him to Hades's wife, Persephone, or Proserine. Then in the House of Hades, he and the giant Damasen sacrificed his life to Percy and Annabeth in order to let them go back tot he surface.

After all, I think Iapetus is a pretty cool titan. Hyperion will be the title of the next episode. See you next time! Ta! Chuck is off...
